The author suggests that we need "future doctors who are less Spock and more Kirk". I ask: "What about Bones?" In addition to actually being a doctor, McCoy has conscience, dedication, loyalty to his patients, and technical skill.


Of course, that's "actually being a doctor" in the sense of being a fictional character who was written as a doctor. You can ask too much of a facile comparison.
