And here I was busy thinking "Wow. If Path is doing crap like this than that post about the founder being a douchebag must be 100% correct." Congrats on being even more obnoxious than Facebook.
the man is a genius. his other posts are also pretty awesome. however, part of me suspects that in an ultimate act of vanity, dave morin himself set up his own hateblog.
Turning off the ringer on your phone is totally legit, though. I don't believe in interrupt-driven communication, unless it's mediated through a machine or some kind of filter. (I'll let a machine notify me if lots of stuff is down, or if one of a very small number of people call me, but that's about it. IIRC, pg's call went to voicemail a couple years ago.
There are several things there that could be perfectly legit but the way they're stated just comes across as completely absurd. I know several people who have two phones (for similar reasons), I know people who prefer texting to calls (and reject calls regularly), I know people who create bespoke apps to play around and solve their own problems. None of the people I know would say any of the kinds of things you see in that article (Except maybe about Uber - that one seems normal).
Looking at other posts, those writings lack empathy and imagination. The post about Google Glass [0] is probably one of the most asinine thing I read on the Internet this month.
it's obviously written in that voice for effect, but there is actual thought behind it. comparing google glasses to segway is valid, and probably not far off. only time will tell.
