Career Magic Happens in the Office (wsj.com)

Not a critique, but an observation. When remote work was "in", that's what all these publications were talking about. Now that there is a movement to get back everyone in the office, the same publications are pushing this new agenda.

Think of it like fashions in women's clothing, and the "business" publications are really fashion publications.

For me the most magical moment of my career was when I started working remotely permanently.

Better headline for every one of these articles:

"Middle Managers and Executives Admit: We Do Nothing Of Value And Need To Make You Suffer To Cover That Up"

And the WSJ use written for those middle managers and executive so they've got to kowtow to their base!

subtitle: "You miss out on the human drama of collaboration when you work from home." Personally I don't think 5 days/week is necessary, but I am skeptical of fully remote work. Personally I go in 4 days a week. I understand that circumstances differ.

Some of us prefer to collaborate without drama.

Collaboration imo needs a bit of “drama”. And by that I mean strong disagreements, camaraderie when things get frustrating, etc.

Sometimes I miss having an office to go into, but idk what to call this except propaganda. Not much of substance here.
