But is it even true? The bar seems incredibly low, today, for what AI people will believe on twitter. My default mode is to ignore/disbelieve any of this stuff unless verifiable.

Could very well be, the bar for CRUD apps is lower than most people want to believe.

You don't hire a 19YOE trauma surgeon to cut moles off healthy people, right?

(Even assuming the German's 19YOE aren't just first year x 19 at a slumbering enterprise shop... AI or not people need to be vigilant to avoid being hustled by low quality SWEs.)

I'm sure it's true that this happened and the young Pakistani dev won out.

But the generalization from this anecdotal example to broad conclusions is of course BS. We know nothing about this German coder, what they specialized in for 19 years, and how good they are. Meanwhile, being young and Pakistani also doesn't imply you eat grass and make grunting noises.

There are many bright young programmers, and youth does help with productivity and adaptation to new tech (like AI).

Yes we already know. The race to zero and programmers that use AI will replace programmers that don’t.

We'll eventually be paid to just hit an "AI, do the thing" button repeatedly 9 to 5, and eventually someone will figure out "wait, we don't need humans for this."

What does no-code actually mean in this context? Isn’t it GUI stuff that GPT can’t use?
