It's so frustrating to see the EU go the right path on so many topics and then go full dystopian on others. Why can't these politics understand that this has nothing to do with CP?

It's all just mass surveillance with no clear benefit to anyone but the people that have backdoor access.

<<mandatory age verification for communication and storage apps>>

This one is a huge trojan horse also because it subtly imply that identity declaration and verification would be mandatory for basically everything.

Why does every government seem to be intentionally marching towards a surveillance dystopia?

Of course reporting or warrant requirements are never included.

Just automatic unaudited AI word matching, a secret trial and then straight to the gulag for you.

Every one of them seems to demand completely unfettered power to invade innocent citizens privacy.

If they were not acting in bad faith they wouldn't be scared of the sunlight, they would be proudly shouting their achievements from the rooftops.

Because it is very tempting to control the others. Of course, the idea that they might control you, is disgusting.

They are not followed anyway. See US.

Welcome to the club, my friend. People (and governments) learn nothing from history. And when someone comes and put them in jail, he is a bad dictator. That someone paved the way for the bad dictator to act like this, this occurs to no one.

If google has your data, why not your government ? Just like google they promise they only use it for good. And of course, they want privacy. But not for you.

When you have no achievements, it is very hard to "proudly shout them".

These are some very powerful words, Patrick! I’m very happy that people like yourself are standing up for this obvious act of tyranny.
