Still, I kinda think we really are ... close. For example, I recall watching "The House with a Clock in Its Walls" and wondering if Cate Blanchett was entirely CGI or CGI-augmented in several scenes. Or see "Aquaman" and see how the mom and dad are CGI-aged. We can still tell the difference, but... it's getting closer.


Come to think of it, in 10 years we'll laugh at "old" films and how they used different actors for different ages of a Protagonist. It will stick out like a sore thumb.


Will we? I laugh at how poor CGI looks compared to the models in the first Star Wars movies.
