Harrison's 17th edition has an entire chapter summarizing all statin trials to date; there is a dose-response curve between LDL and mortality, with no lower limit. In another post you pointed to one article asking about the risk of cancer in statin-treated patients. That was a scare a few years ago; now, in contrast, the NIH is funding statin trials for cancer prevention (specifically colorectal and skin cancers).
