It's the wide tire contact patch and not the big rims that are causing most of the problems you describe. This is typically papered over with tons of steering assist and geometry that favors minimal feedback in order to alleviate the propensity of wide tires to be greatly impacted by changes in road shape. This steering solution feels numb and disconnected from the road which is a common complaint with modern cars. The wide tires that are at the root of the problem are a key element of modern car performance so they're not going anywhere.
Additionally, if you move the wheel surface far enough from the center of the tire you can get more room for wheel bearing and axle shaft hardware without increasing the size of the wheel bolt circle and bore though this isn't a big consideration in a lot of applications as there is ample space either way.
As a general rule the people I don't like are highly specialized computer technology professionals who have the hubris to think their level of in-field expertise carries over into issues regarding how to architect society.
>My electric bill fluctuates so wildly based on how much
This is a beyond dishonest excuse when your utility a) is likely required by state law to publicize rate changes in some capacity b) breaks down your bill on the invoice so you know exactly how much you're paying per unit.
>make it absolutely explicitly clear that you can go to the on-site paramedics for anything and they won't incriminate you.
There's surely a threshold at which they will gladly incriminate you. The paramedics just can't reasonably foresee where said line is other than knowing it's far beyond the typical illegal activity you find in that setting. Moreover, I'm sure you could imagine in the case of federal crimes (drug trafficking, terrorism, high profile national news stuff, etc) the feds having no qualms about threatening to drag the paramedics through an expensive prosecution if they don't narc.
Kubota doesn't have the breadth of product that Deere does especially at the large end. Doosan kind of does under their various brands but they don't really compete that hard in the agricultural sector and I don't know if their repair parts and software ecosystem is more or less locked down than Deere.
I agree it's gotten worse but is it a bad thing? I think the AOCs and MTGs and other politicians who's popularity is based on the fact that they are a caricature their base can rally around are not serve an important "court jester" function that keeps the witches and the turtles slightly less unchecked than they otherwise would be.
I would bet good money that whatever form "limit the damage" takes will be indistinguishable from "get their cut of this power to influence the masses" in practice. These are federal politicians, not the board of a nonprofit that runs a summer camp for poor kids. While some of them may have noble goals on specific issues here and there the sum of their actions as a group basically always winds up being to increase their own power.
> For all its faults, I love the US. I can go downtown with a sign that says "Not my president", and I may get some cheers, may get some boos. What I won't get is arrested.
The situation is not that cut and clear.
I had a joke hat that looked like a MAGA hat (red with white text). I never wore it out of the house because at the time I took public transit everywhere and I didn't want to wind up wearing somebody's coffee or be assaulted (sure it probably would have taken awhile but still, not worth the risk). Were that to happen I can just about guarantee the crime would be pursued by the police about as vigorously as a petty theft report. The government probably would have left me alone but how much is that worth when other people will do their dirty work for them?
"I literally don't have the time to cover the Indian Wars or Jim Crow south while still covering what I need to cover so my students can pass the state standardized test"
