Why would it have too be a pornapp in App Store? Apple allows movie players which play any movies of the right data format (mp4, etc). Why not a VR player with data files obtained elsewhere? The game consoles already have VR playing capability for VR formatted data files (e.g. Wipeout on PS4). As long as a book is either pdf or epub it can be trivially read regardless of content. I don't see an issue here.
Why are the headlines so often so misleading? Requiring the unwitting cooperation of the victim and treating it as a footnote seems borderline dishonest and certainly clickbait. Yes, I clicked to see what the actual much more nuanced situation might be.
This rhetoric might be tiresome except for the FACT that it is so devastatingly true. A significantly different copyright legal framework might be defensible but the current system is simply laws bought by the highest bidder
Probably refers to "PI", the 1998 movie written and directed by Darren Aronofsky. The main character was an eccentric mathematician who was obsessed with patterns in the decimal expansion of the transcendal number pi. If you have not seen the movie I would encourage you to look for it as my summary is not adequate.
Really? You think a four digit security code that users have to enter repeatedly is more secure than obtaining a 2400 dpi clean image of a specific fingerprint and a nontrivial lab procedure? It might require some patience but if you have an excuse for being around the target, it doesn't require great skill to see the digits as they are entered. In either case the adversary has to deal with Activation Lock which has been introduced with iOS7.
I've read there is already something like 35% adoption of iOS7 so we may see soon how effective Activation Lock is at deterring theft.
How does this make any sense? Apps from the iOS App Store can use webkit views where webGL could apply but native apps have had direct access to OpenGL ES for years (only the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, and the first iPod touch iOS devices did not have a GPU and hence no OpenGL). I was pretty sure iAds only ran in native apps and hence could use OpenGL directly. So why would iAd developers have any interest in using WebGL.
Obviously web site developers and HTML5 app developers care very much for WebGL access in mobile safari. If Apple 'artificially' holds back WebGL they will just be shooting themselves in the foot. Imagine the damage if other pad platforms allow interactive, 3D web browsing and the iPad does not. It would be suicidal.
