Also, I don't believe it is fair to dismiss skeptics as inventing reasons. If anything, "believers" are bending over backwards to praise Anthropic even though they didn't actually release anything.
This blog is so much fun to read. Super well written and researched, and it definitely scratches an itch for me. A lot of these tools seemed boring and mysterious to me when I was growing up, but seeing that these tools were actually already really powerful considering the hardware they're running on is very interesting.

I'm curious to see how this will affect WGSL as used by WebGPU. It's probably not a bad idea if that gets replaced at some point, to make it even easier to port shaders from native applications to ones running in the browser.
