I found this blog post to be quite interesting https://www.lynalden.com/fraying-petrodollar-system/

I wanted to go into ATC training but am too old at 32. Was pretty disappointed by that.

I would love to see separation of sports from other content in this revamp. As someone who doesn't even like/watch soccer, it would be great if 3/4 of the feed wasn't just MLS spam. I am never going to subscribe to that so why is my experience being made infinitely worse :(

The answer is because Apple has decided you should be a soccer (football) fan. They are the tastemakers and they are making your taste. You might not care about football/soccer today but next year? After enough time investment in related drama shows and documentaries? Maybe then. It’s the same reason why their shows are very progressive and avant-garde.

You'll come around, just give it time.

To their credit, they do it pretty tastefully but still blatantly.

That's not the reason (although it is the topical Apple hate). Apple services are just there to make profits, that's the only reason. Apple's services (esp TV and News) employ all the worst dark patterns and anti-user tricks to extract money. It has nothing to do with taste or Apple's opinionated stances.

If you actually look at the article the very first code sample shows how certain customers (Alameda) are directly exempt from auto liquidation & can carry negative balances at FTX.

> certain customers (Alameda) are directly exempt from auto liquidation

Certain customers (including Alameda) - I understang other customers had similar arrangements, and why wouldnt they? Every account was trading on margin and high leverage - the reason you auto liquidate is so they dont run off owing you money.

Is it fraud for a company to extend credit to another company? Any company that issues a invoice and allows say 14 days to settle is extending credit to the other party.

It is most certainly fraud to lie about protections in place to protect customer assets. That includes backstop insurance and auto-liquidation practices.

this is pretty common from what I have seen. especially with books.

the iphone 15 starts at 799.

$800 before tax or accessories.

Out the door... Minimum $900 bucks where I live. That feels close enough to a grand that trying to explain away usb 2 speeds with "But it's a budget phone!" is pretty disingenuous.

And out the door where I live they are free (or will be in a few months) if you switch cell carriers and trade in your old phone.

> if you switch cell carriers and trade in your old phone.

Soooo absolutely not free?

Not 100% free, but a pretty low cost. If you were planning on switching carriers anyway for lower "new customer" rates and don't have a use for your old phone it is free.

nobody is calling an iphone a budget phone. adding tax and optional accessories to call this a $1k phone is disingenuous

doubtful. I don't think many people care at all, I know I don't

Believe me, there are many more people that care than the other way around.

do people really think this is clearer than looping.. my mind immediately goes to a loop here

some people think in "what" and some people think in "how".

some people think in both. they should write blogs and help the whats and the hows communicate.

Looping was more natural to me, but learning Elixir (I've been using Learn Functional Programming with Elixir) made it so much easier to grasp and more natural. It's a fun language to use to boot.

what button? I must be blind...

This would be very useful because "x reddit" is probably my most common search

Sorry, looks like this new feature is being re-tooled today, but should be up again within a few days!

I use carplay in my CX5 and have no issues (my cx5 does not have a touch screen at all, 2022)
