I clicked on a few ages and saw advice from someone that was the exact age. To me, those are pointless in this context. Maybe restrict posting to posters that are >= 10 years older than the age?

10 years is too much. I'm 26 and am busting my ass to get a good GRE score, because I didn't care about GPA in college because I thought I'd never want to go to grad school. Left a comment for 18 years old to take college seriously.

Hey 26 year old, save yourself the $50,000+ and skip grad school. The work experience you can get instead is far more valuable.

Maybe. Just using 10 as an example. However, in 5 to 10 more years, you may have a clearer view of what you went through and why you made the choices you did. It sounds like you are still going through it and while I may agree with your perspective, I wouldn't put it in the same category of thoughts as those that have had time to marinate on the other side of the events.

Did you agree with the advice?

Doesn't matter

Thanks! When I would start working with new clients, I often wished that I had a simple way to set up an MVP or copy and tweak a previous project. I also wanted something where clients could go in and make changes without having to set up an environment.

Keep working on yours. It's fun and you'll learn a lot.

It is a great way to setup an MVP. Best of luck.

Hey HN!

So, I posted this web app builder a while back and got some good feedback and some awesome customers, but it was just too complicated. Originally, it had a UI builder like webflow or something on top of the API builder. So, painfully, I ripped out all of the UI builder and tried to simplify it.

Now, it's like a jsfiddle meets a rails generator. Anyway, play with it for free and let me know if you think that it doesn't suck. :)

Here is a demo app built with BaseDeploy.

Fixed!

Hey, my name is Stephen. Base Deploy allows users to build web apps without coding. Its focus is user generated content.

Here are the major features that other builders do not offer:

- User registration

- User generated pages

- User subscriptions - Stripe

- Sell products - Stripe Relay

- Allow users to sell - Stripe Connect

I'd love to here your feedback on the app and if this makes sense while using the app.

Hi Stephen,

Once I signed up, it looks really interesting, but I couldn't actually tell what the product really was until I clicked "Get Started". This might be because I was expecting a more technical description though, so not necessarily something that needs fixing, just thought I'd raise it.

I can imagine the use-case for this is that people want to build an MVP quickly. For that, I think this could work really well. A few other tools that could complement it might be imports from spreadsheets (for importing/rudimentary management of content/products), I've used that in the past and it has been useful in getting up and running quickly.

One thing I'm concerned about is what happens when the MVP works. I can imagine throwing together an MVP in a day or so with this, getting it live, and a month or two later wanting to move to my own platform that might take a week or two to build. What's my upgrade path, and how do you monetise me? On my side, I would like a data export so that I can get going easily on the new site, but also from your perspective, can you re-coup the costs of acquiring a user in the < 4 months that they might run the application? I don't think charging for data export (while an easy solution) is the right answer here though. This may not be the common usage pattern though, so I don't know how much of an issue this would all be, just thinking about how I would use the product.

Final note, after signing up, there's nowhere to see the pricing without going back to the landing/marketing site. Also, the pricing on requests sounds incredibly high cost for what you get. 2000 requests for $20 is very expensive!

Just a few thoughts, I may be way off the mark with these, but on the whole it looks useful.

Hey Dan,

This is great feedback. Thank you.

I was playing with a more technical landing page, but didn't want to make it seem overly complicated.

We are definitely working on options for growing apps. I want any transitions to be as smooth as possible. We are also working to find the right pricing.

Thanks again for trying it out.

I am not familiar with builders but the one I know a little is Weebly and I think their most expensive option ($25/month) offers the same (but then unlimited storage, members, etc) at a much lesser price...

The builder is similar to products like Weebly, but the major difference is the user generated content.

On Base Deploy you can create subscription plans, register users, and allow users to create pages that you've set up. That's why we are charging based on usage now. However, the pricing is being figured out.

BaseDeploy.com

Build web apps focused on user generated content, without coding.

- Register users - Create pages for user generated content. - Connect to Stripe.com for Subscriptions, Payments, Transactions fees, etc.

It's a builder like weebly or squarespace, except it allows you to build your own communities or marketplaces like Etsy. I think it's cool.

This looks really cool. I'll definitely try it again, but there is an error in the images I download.

Hey HN, Faction is a platform that allows you to quickly build and customize web apps. You can connect to your Stripe platform and register customers. Feedback appreciated.

I'm sorry. I've been stuck with inception style iframes on a large site. WTF, always frustrating.

Super handy. Nice work.
