The question should be is Canada willing to extract or ship those minerals? In the case of oil, they're mostly only willing to do that if the US absorbs all of the risk - such as piping it across US farmland and aquifers to ship from ports in the Gulf of Mexico. I don't think they really have the appetite for any heavy industry.

What a bizarre take on the world. US megacorps building pipelines in the US, so they can process it and profit, equates to Canada doing it?

Meanwhile, we have pipelines to the coasts already, for our other customers.

It's not just loans and banking. Bad credit severely limits your housing options, even rooms for rent are running credit checks these days. Some employers too, even in roles where you aren't directly handling money or anything close to it.

I understand this, but I meant that the data sources used to build credit scores are mainly banking/debt related. Jaywalking ore saying slurs online won't affect it, unlike in China.

*not yet. And if you are not US citizen and coming in as a tourist, what you write applies heavily and can end up in properly harsh treatment. So its not as rosy as you write (which already ain't rosy)

The difference between a social credit score and a credit score is when you criticize the president, your social credit score goes down, but your credit score stays the same.

The people who have been stalked and apprehended by ICE for online criticism of what ICE is doing might not agree.

As might visitors who are being asked to show five years of social media history to make sure their views are politically acceptable.

Free speech is over. If dissent isn't being actively punished - the current push for deanonymisation is coincidental, no doubt - at the very least it's heavily throttled algorithmically.

Anything to distract from Congress getting unredacted access to Trumps good friend's files/emails and naming 6 of their potential clients.

Get memory foam tips for them. Mine rarely fall out if I sleep with them in.

Didn't you hear? We're heading towards a workless utopia where everything will be free (according to people who are actively working to eliminate things like food assistance for less fortunate mothers and children.)

Who are some of those people?

but mongo is webscale.

Aside from the initial construction, you need a few shifts of dc techs (for remote hands, running data cables, escorting vendors), electricians, and security. Not much else really needs to be done onsite.

You might have an electrical engineer on staff for planning and management but most of the actual work (and plumbing, HVAC) will be contractors hired as needed.

I wonder if the "agents" that carried out the execution were involved in the first scuffle, and if he started carrying to protests after that? Nasty situation all around.

I guess that's better than opening fire on people with pepper balls, occasionally maiming people (including those who weren't involved in protests)?

I'd love to see a version of this for home defense though. I want to blast would-be intruders or thieves with "Sales call Abyss" or maybe baby shark.

Is there like no option that neither should be used in the first place? I am so amazed.

I can't say I've ever seen anyone claim Iran as an ally. As usual, plastic smoking perpetually online right wing trolls conflate support for the people in Palestine with support for Iran/Hamas/Hezbollah/whatever the right wing picks as it's bogey man of the day. You are not as serious person.

>It’s a shame that all those activist that would shred themselves for Palestine are absolutely quite about Iran

Did you consider if there are any differences between the two situations? The money I earn is not being seized to fund the Iranian regime. Government and other organizations in my country are not declaring a blank check in support of the Iranian government; they're not suggesting it's hate speech to merely question the Iranian government's actions and no one is being investigated, arrested, or deported for being skeptical of the Iranian government or it's violence.
