Do the bike companies have API's as well or how'd you manage to get the data?

I had a similar experience. I was asked to do some coding, got hung up on one of the questions.

Right on the spot I was told I wasn't a perfect match. Not directly saying it but definitely implying it, they said they needed someone who can actually code.

I guess having deployed multiple projects and code to show for it isn't worth anything if you can't code a variation of fizz buzz.

The hiring practice is a little off. If anyone ever asks me for advice on job hunting, I'll definitely tell them to exhaust all networking outlets e.g. programing meets, hackathons, friends of friends, before applying directly.

where are you located?

silicon valley; I'm in santa clara; my buddy is in mountain view.

"or any other nasty way Vimmers have to use because of our archaic, ingrained keystrokes.”

This is where I stopped reading. If you're trying to convince me to use sublime try to be less subjective.

Since everyone is sharing the django-rest framework they are using, I'll chime in with my choice:

Django-Piston

https://bitbucket.org/jespern/django-piston/wiki/Home

I have not used any other frameworks but will be trying ops suggestion.

Django-Piston is not longer being worked on. It may be risky to use a tool that isn't being regularly maintained.

Thanks. It redirected me to http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009LL9VDG, which just offered to take my email address when it is available. I thought pre-order meant I'd pay for it. lol

ZipRecruiter is a good one. It has some useful features that I haven't seen in other job board sites. Some features include, total number of candidates that have applied, including AND in the search query, and a few others. Worth giving them a look.

Is it really possible to pick up RoR in 8 weeks to be useful to a company?

How is what you're offering any different than this site: http://teamtreehouse.com/

Super honest question, I'm fairly new to the web dev world.

IMHO, he did say you'll be passable as a junior dev(depends on the person's potential i guess). I think that this would be enough for most companies, especially if they think you have great potential and can grow/learn exponentially(like be a senior in 6 or less months)

There are some projects that don't need senior devs THAT much, like basic CRUD apps, etc. And you'll be "continuing" your studies under the company's mentors/senior devs.

So yes, I think 8 weeks of studying RoR can make someone useful to a company. Not all, but probably one that needs juniors

With hands-on, 5 days a week, many hours a day, intense one-on-one mentoring, I'm still skeptical.

The main reason I asked, and why I'm a little skeptical, is I see a lot of places (in the Los Angeles area) that require additional knowledge in a myriad of other technologies; MySql, JavaScript, Html etc. along with Ruby/Rails or Python/Django.

I apologize for sounding brash, but this sounds a little too good to be true, almost DeVry ITtech ish...

Its a delight using the 13" with a riser, external keyboard and trackpad. Lions new features, (full screen, swiping between desktops) really helps with productivity.

What you should consider is, the 13" maxes out at 4GB of ram where the 15" maxes out at 8GB (8G upgrade is around $50 dollars from amazon).

It all depends on you, do you want a light effective machine, or a powerhouse of computer power at the expense of weight.

The memory is what's holding me back from going with the Air.

The new Macbook Pro can actually take up to 16 GB RAM (though it's not a cheap upgrade). I've personally found that memory is the single best performance enhancer for the Mac - I've got a 4 GB Macbook with SSD now, but I'd love to have 16 GB RAM in a new Macbook Pro.

Ooops. I don't know why I said the 15" maxes out at 8GB. What I meant to type was.. "My wallet maxes out at the price of 8GB's". The price on individual 8GB sticks are astronomical.

$500 for a pair is astronomical? That's what I just found on Ebay.

My initial thought was...

If it has a .Count() and a .Remove(), it should have a .Clear()
