It's not meant to replace AdWords but instead provide automated daily emails in an easy-to-digest format that gets the most important points across quickly.

I predict Google will come around and open up your adwords account again. Don't give up on it if, of course, you want their traffic. Were you running product listing ads (PLAs) as well?

Not a single person from Google will ever read the e-mails from your Adwords account unless you bring in thousands of dollars of revenue for them every day.

I knew a person who used to spend $3000+ a day on Adwords who never got much attention from Google (reseller in the cosmetics niche). The only thing he mentioned is that at some point Google assigned him an Adwords account rep. He followed the advice of the account rep and got all the ads and keywords suggested by the rep banned. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Eventually the person's main account was banned. Last I talked to him he was creating a bunch of fake accounts and running cloaked campaigns. It was much easier for him to be non-compliant on Adwords than compliant.

I can attest to this claim. Even with monthly budgets in the tens-of-thousands of dollars (maybe $20K on Google and $15K on MSN/Yahoo!) you barely get noticed.

The real issue (verging on comedic) is when they kill your keywords or ads, and then your volume drops to the level where they really ignore you thereby preventing you from getting the service you were (or wanted) prior.

Usually when a post about Google shows up on the HN front page, someone from Google shows up in the comments and takes some common-sense action. They are probably figuring out how to handle it now.

Trust me, as someone who's run very large advertising campaigns, having someone from Google read your email doesn't mean they'll do anything. They have ridiculous rules for larger advertisers, as well.

Very helpful indeed. Thanks

Your app looks very cool. Best of luck to you.

Thank you, Mike, for continuing to push ahead with D3. It's nice to see so many folks are using -- and benefiting from -- it!

right on! nice to see folks lending real support at this time of year.

I'd rather be discussing Ron Conway's decision to put his muscle -- and money -- behind efforts to stop gun violence.

Agreed. Who cares if there is a tax break for this. I think this donation is well-timed and I would like to see more "rich" corporations follow suit. I was initially thinking he might do something for Sandy Hook. There is a community torn to shreds that will never be the same. Here is a list of ways we can all help now: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mobileweb/2012/12/14/connectic...

I care. Or well, I care if there _aren't_ tax breaks for this. People who complain about this being a PR stunt or driven by self-interest are missing the point. If appeals to self-interest are what it takes to get people to do good, then we should appeal to people's self interest and applaud those who give in to those appeals.

This kind of dignity just doesn't apply when it comes to solving certain problems. I doubt the kids with new opportunities in Newark, or the people without TB or Malaria in Africa give two shits about what motivated the people who helped them.

Edit: One other thing worth noting is that tax breaks for charitable donations in the US are actually a really, really awesome thing for the government to do. It's basically Uncle Sam saying "yanno what, we understand that there are certain things that government doesn't do well, so we're going to approve you diverting some of your taxes to these other organizations who do it better."

I got my evolver in 2005 and continue to love it's design and sound quality. His latest device, a joint effort with with Roger Linn called Tempest, is a refined drum machine with the signature fat sound and brilliant versatility of DSI.

Wow, Google's stock should rise on this news. Many folks may not know Kurzweil keyboards (for music), but they are excellent. I can't wait to see where he leads us next.
