Deep Systems | Senior DevOps Engineer | Remote EMEA, APAC, and Americas | Full-time
I am building a DevOps team at a capital markets tech company most people haven't heard of — but some of the world's biggest financial institutions run on our platform. 300B+ messages/day. 99.99% uptime. Mostly on-prem, Linux, purpose-built hardware.
You'd be working on systems support, tooling, and helping build a custom observability platform in Python — because off-the-shelf monitoring doesn't cut it at this scale.
Capital markets / FIX experience is a plus, not a requirement. Appetite for learning is.
The vibe: small global team (US/APAC/EMEA), fully async, deeply technical. Leadership still codes. No hand-holding, no fluff.
Mainly focused on US and EMEA hires (we currently have people clustered in Belfast and North Macedonia); for APAC, we have solid leads. We don't have salary expectations to publish. We are open to different engagements given regional and your personal factors, including contract, W-2, contract-to-hire, etc.
I would recommend the Jane Street youtube channel, the ocamal focused ones in my opinion you can skip. But otherwise their engineering videos will give you a good sense of it. When it comes to low latency systems this is a very private ecosystem. There are some open source projects for learning some of the mechanics of trading, market data and the order to settlement lifecycle. I am not aware of any being built for low latency.
Market data ingest, analysis and resulting order execution is chewing through way more data way faster than any banking transaction system. I have worked on both of them.
This is great a social networking platform that actually has a unique usability twist!
This form of gradually gaining trust to learn ones real identity feels like a part of real life that is missing online. So many more of my interactions in real life are some form of anonymous or vague idea of who someone is. Those interactions don't come with a dossier of their interactions with others for me to browse or judge them on. This feels closer to that.
It will be very interesting to see how people take to this.
Capital One | Many roles, Senior/Lead Engineer in particular | Wilmington DE (for my teams) and other locations in general | ONSITE | FULL TIME
We are looking for a lot of engineers at Capital One. I am a hiring manager for a couple roles in Wilmington DE in our bank side of the business.
In particular I am looking for a lead or senior engineer with preferably some experience in search technologies and more backend engineering. Our current stack for this system is node.js, react, graphQL, elasticsearch, Postgres, all in AWS with push button deployment. This is a full stack role since in Capital One if you build it you own it.
I have another lead role to be a part of a team that does full stack development as well with projects ranging from specialized Kabana plugin interfaces on-top of call center transcriptions to implementing white paper AI methods for Voice Biometrics.
We have a lot of open positions at Capital One and we are not your typical bank, our AWS footprint is impressive and how we have worked to operate as a technology first company in a regulated environment has been progressive. I am happy to talk about Capital One in general as well.
