But those things fall in a category of "things that are awful and I'd like to see solved", which is different than "existential risks which could see my kids dead, and there's nothing I can personally do to shield them from it".
I do not think hate alone usually slows things very much if they have economic utility (or people strongly believe they do)
It's the byproducts of hate (usually regulation, but occasionally things like boycotts or PR disasters) that do so. In the absence of those things, they just keep on truckin'
We're way past it, sadly. Luigi was insanely popular for the cold blooded murder of a CEO. Hundreds of thousands of people celebrated Charlie Kirk's murder within minutes of it happening, let alone the discourse you see now, a year later. Plenty of people, even on this forum, openly advocate for "the funniest thing" happening to Elon.
No mention of a certain president and his cultists coup-ing the government to steal an election? Definitely sounded like terrorism at the time, with clear call to eliminating a vice president and other representatives
I find "bro" and "dudebro" to be such fascinating slurs. The previous incarnation was "neckbeard" / "obese dude living in mom's basement", so "dudebro" comes across almost like a compliment.
Yes. I'm having fun making an indie game, which will most likely never see the light of day, let alone profit. I'd definitely pay cents to dollars to have fitting background music. There's no chance I'd pay for a human musician.
Why not? The experience of working with a freelancer for a piece of creative art is more or less like prompting except they take longer to reply, understand better most of the time, write/spell worse, but produce way better results, especially after two/three iterations ("prompts").
I occasionally commision visual art from young artists/students via Krita's web forum, and what I find to be true is that if I had AI do the same art, it would just be exactly what I ask the AI to do or iterate toward (I'm detail-oriented enough, and iteration rounds are cheaper and more plenty). If I ask a human instead, I get the somewhat-unpredictable input of another creative mind besides my own brain, and often this sums up to something greater.
It really depends on what you want/need, augment/extrapolate your own creativity with AI tools, or invite someone else's.
The AI debate is for now most often centered on whether AI is capable of replacing individuals, but replacing the results you get when you put multiple humans together is another dimension entirely.
Yes, you raise a really good point too! The best collaborators I've worked with, has pushed back on what I've said and we got rolling with coming up with how it should be together, they leverage their experience and creativity, and they're good at teasing out what the client (me) actually wants and can combine it all.
What if there is no potential of the game making any money ? I am sure if a musician wants to create cover art they will give AI image generator a first pass.
It again works like LLMs, you gotta try a few and see which one works out for your use cases and tasks, some are better at some things, others not. Also, both quality and style of communication differs a lot, worth trying to figure out if that basically matches first, then quickly move on if it doesn't.
Yes, this is well-documented and publicly advertised. In Azure Foundry, the feature to modify (or completely remove) safety guardrails and content filtering is called "Limited Access" [0], and one must submit a form to request permission to use this feature. This is one of the more straightforward paths to get access to unrestricted frontier models, but it's far from the only way.
No. It's not limited to 3rd-party guardrails. Given how restrictive the native public-facing OpenAI guardrails are, this feature wouldn't be worth very much if it just slacked back off to the level of "regular" filter paranoia offered by the native models, would it?
This is needed if you're going to be dealing with things like psychologists doing self-harm research or red-teaming or sensitive sexual content -- if you're working with any of that sort of stuff in a professional context and want to leverage OpenAI models on Azure, then that's the form that you fill out to get access to unfiltered models.
Note that I am not aware of this feature being offered for Anthropic models -- I've only seen it offered for OpenAI models (note that the documentation I linked is specifically in the "Azure OpenAI" category).
Sorry, I should have been more verbose. I meant: isn’t the entire history of technology just people deciding that it’s less effort to make a tool to do a job than it would be to do the job?
