it's ok with sex change. but race... me: can race be changed? ChatGPT: No, race cannot be changed because it is a social construct based on physical and cultural characteristics that are typically assigned at birth. Race is not determined by genetics or biology, and therefore cannot be altered through medical or other interventions.<...>

me: can you give examples of black racism? ChatGPT: <...> It is important to note that while these actions may be hurtful or offensive, they do not carry the same weight or impact as the systemic and institutionalized racism that people of color face, and they do not represent a widespread societal issue in the same way that racism against people of color does.

There is no other way. If they want something done they need someone to do it. Layoffs make them less attractive. So they will have to either rise the wages or accept less qualified candidates. The difference in performance between average and top engineers can be time. Or even infinite, when one simply cannot do the thing.

And this is, BTW, applicable through the whole range. Just check Intel market capitalization, and guess what? It's now smaller then AMD, and 6x times smaller then NVidia. The reason: top management, they failed on AI, graphics, they failed on Cloud. Yes, they did something, not enough.

Wait, what? Why would layoffs make it harder for them to hire? If anything, it’s tge opposite, they can raise the bar significantly now, esp since it’s a buyer market now.

I'm, for example, even not considering Amazon/Google/Facebook now. Job switch is quite stressful. There is no point without stability or fat paycheck. And looks like personal level doesn't matter much when the whole team is terminated.

More like moped, powered, with small wheels, definitely not off-road. Still good if you don't mind going the same way again and again. Or going "in the wild" only to find out someone is already there.

BTW, animals do make tool. Even some insects (ChatGPT told me last night :)).

It all depends. Most of my coworkers are friendly, some are friends. We respect each other, etc, but it most cases any contacts end when someone leaves the company. The key marker is can I discuss any matters, including inappropriate, politically incorrect? In most cases not. But with true friend we can discuss anything without a fear of being reported. And we are still in contact many year after.

It should be possible to attach 'accelerators' or 'special skills'. So that when playing with ChatGPT you will be actually facing GNU Chess.

Interesting, this isn't the only life changing invention. Riding horseback was one of them. Cars, then GPS. Internet instead of books. Social sites instead of in-person skills. And so on.

The main danger of AI 'experts' is, in my opinion, the information bubble they create. They not only suggest, eventually they will drive your thoughts. In the direction their builders want. That will be crowd control even worst than Facebook was at it's peak. Currently we know that ChatGPT has woke bias embedded. But that's not the end, right?

Not surprising taking into account how much of headache they generate.

there were reports from Microsoft recently as well. If I remember correctly their version of ChatGPT given a task in plain English generated actions script for a robot.

So, we are getting closer to AI 'Goblin'. Almost generic, sub-human, embodied AI

The question is, was it predictable, did Mark realize it from the beginning? Definitely he does it now. I think "Second Life" was similar, then it degraded to just adult entertainment at selected locations. It was 2D, but popular from start.
