You have lost faith in your business model, this sounds like a common problem with many startups. Trying to build a startup (that is indeed a company) with a weak business model or inexistent and have faith to raise enough funds to survive for long.
You had bad luck and I surely do not know all the info but if you do not trust the monetization model it might be because it was never clear from the beginning, and do not forget, startups are companies and companies make money.
If you feel so frustrated just jump form the ship before it sinks, i have shut down startups because i didn't feel we would be able to make money (luckily we were always very early stage).
Saving yourself is always better than collective suicide.
After some time using LaTeX I think is a very useful tool and probably online editors will help to the wide use of it.
As I see it now, the variety of editors for Mac, Windows and Linux may cause problems when migrating from one environment to the other. Hopefully this will be over with tools like SpanDeX.
BTW, congrats for your tool, have been using it for few hours and feels awesome.
Demo video looks awesome. But what about privacy? I am not a privacy lunatic and not trying to complain (Scifi is here!) but wouldn't be this handling lots of problems against privacy?
Obviously photo cameras also have the same issue but still you can see when people is taking photos of you, in this specific case things are slightly different...
BTW, actually I like the design, looks like a totally new era of communication ;)
Why not just a JS API for this? I just cannot see the full application for this app. It is interesting but the work required to get that info by using JS and just plot it is not that high.
You could also request the http info and simply show that to a person on a page. In rails it would be as simple as calling 'request.user_agent' and printing that value on screen.
Is it totally possible to do both with the same library.Problem is: You need that?
I mean, video rendering kills the performance of your browser I guess is better just to show the possibility of data transferring and then you build it by using the desired specs. Many ongoing video demos are avaliable too :)
