Yeah it can be turned off in stock launcher (at least I did on my Pixel 9 Pro XL).

I don't think the previous comment was trying to be snarky - I can see where they're coming from.

Take my feedback with a grain of salt, as I am entirely not the target audience, but...

"Stay Connected, Always" - weird way to put it, given it's for offline situations. At this stage it sounds like it could be a 4G or portable wifi solution?

"Use our apps for offline content or the Kiwix Hotspot for reliable access." - so it's probably a desktop or mobile app, maybe a web app. What is Kiwix Hotspot, another app? Unclear there is a hardware at this point, or any on the home page unless I watch the video that hints at it.

The summary in the footer was a lot clearer to me: "Kiwix is an offline reader for online content like Wikipedia, Project Gutenberg, or TED Talks. It makes knowledge available to people with no or limited internet access"

Again, not trying to complain for the sake of it, I think this is a cool project helping under-served communities, but if people can't easily understand what you do, they may not dig deeper.

If I can't tell what is being offered without much thinking or digging, the home page isn't doing as much as it could be.

Perhaps it is ticking the boxes for your target audience if you have done some testing. Great! If not, some quick user testing could help optimise the messaging to make sure what you offer is landing.

The quote from the footer sounds pretty good. That should probably be front and centre.

agreed. It hits the nail on the head.

Thank you for the feedback!

Very valid points. I’m volunteering for Kiwix and can say that they’re aware of the issues with the website. There are plans to renew it and refresh the content/copy, as well as do some user testing.

The core team is small and doing its best to prioritise and focus on what brings the best value to the users.

I love the product and mission. I'd be happy to volunteer some time to help with the messaging and content. Feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn or X. - Jason Lankow

I honestly thought this was a self contained relay to provide internet access to remote locations...

Not new, but Josh W. Comeau's blog posts (https://www.joshwcomeau.com) on frontend and React are always next-level, you can tell there's passion in the details.

+1. Love the interactive demos

I can see a link to join a waitlist for the model, as well there is this:

> Filtered for plain radiographs, Harrison.rad.1 achieves 82% accuracy on closed questions, outperforming other generalist and specialist LLM models available to date (Table 1).

The code and methodology used to reach this conclusion will be made available at https://harrison-ai.github.io/radbench/.

Also not working for me (MacOS 14.4, Chrome 128.0.6613.113). Not great for building brand trust. Everything else looks so polished that this stood out experience-wise.

The marketing site and app looks great. Congrats on shipping!

Thanks! Yeah, the pages weren't linked properly.

+1 the UI for the site and app looks top notch. I'm not the target customer so can't really comment from a value perspective, but would use it if I had this kind of need.

A couple of very tiny details on the marketing site:

- The animation below 'struggling with tracking your work hours?' kicks in a bit too late for me, maybe a quirk of browsing fullscreen QHD, but I felt like I was in a kind of no man's land [seeing this](https://imgur.com/a/1mB8d5j). I would start this when the title is at about 50% of the viewport height.

- Logo in the header pixelates a little bit and looks weird, I believe this is a Chrome rendering issue, not sure what the fix might be.

This is a really nice pair of a physical plus digital interface. I like that the button actions are clear in the 'composition' mode but the faders and knobs are not - makes it a bit more playful as you need to watch as you adjust values to understand what's changing purely from an output perspective rather than thinking in terms of parameters.

Novation Circuit (at least the OG) did this with synth parameters with similar effect - you need to listen to hear the effect, as each patch you could be changing a different parameter (for better or worse).

Nice writeup and great-looking project, I wish I could play with it in real life!

I’m so glad you picked up on that! It was my goal to encourage folks to let their curiosity lead them through the experience. I was quite surprised seeing a few people sit down for 20-30 minutes straight just to use the app… my thought was the plotters would be the center of attention. Others even asked if I could release the app for them to use later, which I would love to do at some point.

> Code is the source of truth, in the form of the component library

Amen. No point living in a Figma dreamland if what you're shipping doesn't resemble it.
