Or people like what they like. Imagine that.

It reads to me more like technical specs for a sex doll or maybe dating simulator software, but I guess everyone is different.

Most species have some selectivity used for determining mates, as well as reproductive strategies.

There is no shame in having a relationship with someone you find physically and mentally attractive.

After all, if children are the biggest investment in your life, may as well have them with someone you love.

I didn’t get the sense that the post I replied to was concerned with love or personality traits for their mating procedure as described. It was a list of physical attributes or tolerances like you might have for an object like a wrench or car.

Elements of attractiveness are merely entry points if you will.

Most western heterosexual women prefer men that are tall and have good facial symmetry. My gay friend told me he likes lumberjack types with heavy musculature. I personally prefer a taller woman with a good hip to waist ratio.

I wouldn't shame a woman for liking what she likes, nor would I shame my friend for his preferences. Nor should Cis hetero men be shamed for what they like. It is an individual decision.

There is a great deal more to relationship success beyond mere attractiveness. But, it has to start somewhere.

You are looking for a dissertation full of disclaimers to satisfy your sensitivities, following an article about a smell-dating event. This might be the moment where you take a step back and wonder why you are worried about this so much.

Probably just run into one too many incels on the internet with similar points of view that I am reading into this.

“If you’re poor just make more money”

Good negotiation skills = good communication skills. Communication is a skill that 80% of the engineers I meet don’t have. Don’t be upset that someone negotiated a higher salary than you when they were hired, you could have tried just the same.

I don't buy this. I've known a lot of people, especially from a south-east asian background, that are extremely reserved when it comes to self-advocacy wage-wise and still remain extremely strong and clear communicators in the areas that matter. Additionally various factors of neurodiversity bring this into an even worse light, being mildly Autistic can make this difficult to accomplish even if you're able to communicate well with the team on a day-by-day basis.

You’re right, being a bad negotiator does not always correlate to being a bad communicator. But being a good negotiator almost always correlates to being a good communicator.

I don't agree with this. I had a great salary negotiation, over the phone. It was all prepared, i had answers ready for me for the negotiation, prepared by my stepsister (who recently had a mission at a recruitment firm), she listened to the interviewer/manager, pointed me to the correct idea for negotiating, and i landed +60% of my old salary (loosing two vacation weeks, i only have 8 left, but still). Nothing to do with being a good communicator.

I did say “almost always”. Also you showed (somewhat morally ambiguous haha) problem solving and resourcing—two highly sought after skills.

Let’s also not discount the fact that negotiation is a skill itself, and you were learning from your stepsister who sounds like a skilled negotiator. If you had to negotiate another raise in-person I would bet you could think back to the cards and knock it out.

What an abysmal quote. It is completely false, and does nothing to encourage intelligent people to go into teaching which we desperately need.

I hate it too and wish I hadn't shared it. I thought it was basically what the parent was saying, but more succinct.

It means take the fork and push stuff into the trash. This isn’t rocket science here.

I love how this “article” completely glosses over the fact that the northeast/Midwest gets devastating snowstorms that cripple entire states for days at a time. These “polar vortexes” are clearly becoming more severe and more common as the earth’s weather continues to spiral out of control.

So the options are move somewhere where it’s hell on earth for a portion of the year, move somewhere where it’s a frozen wasteland for a portion of the year, or move somewhere temperate along the coast which is also going to be impacted by climate change.

Author should get off their high horse.

The Polar Vortex has definitely become a regular (annual?) occurrence in the central US. What should scare Texans is that this year it only came 5-10% further south than “normal”. But you have to remember - it is bringing air down from the arctic circle - this air is as cold as it gets. It’s not getting colder over the next few decades.

It’s ludicrous to expect that there will be a region in the world that will be unaffected by climate change over the next 5 decades. There are going to be negative effects everywhere. But some places are going to be worse than others, and the southern half of the US is going to be worse off than the northern half of the US.

I personally think that we are 10-20 years away from the point at which climate migration makes sense for the smart money, with ready buyers of the property you want to leave behind. Put a reminder in your calendar and go about your life.

I can’t speak for who you’re replying to but having to maintain my phone like that sounds awful. I have my computer that I can endlessly tinker with—I want my phone to be a phone and just work.

This is one of the main reasons I used Windows Phone 7 phone for so many years. All of the phone features, enough smart features to make it great for work, and none of the distractions -- ironically, the things that made it a commercial failure.

I don’t see how it would be especially if you pair it with a questionable asking if they treat all former employees like this.

Pretty silly take. APIs supplement RPA, they don’t “disrupt” it. Additionally, most B2B companies outside of tech-land have 0 interest in creating APIs. Are you going to wait for the API that never comes, or do RPA?

Also the whole “chrome has no API” is wrong. Ever heard of selenium or puppeteer?

And I hate how you never escape work when WFH—it’s a double edged sword.
