But seriously, I don't know how much I'd trust society to care / keep funding such schools, or people working there to that with enough empathy and motivation for too long.
The sentiment that (even low-level) criminals in prison are trash, that deserves the worst instead of rehabilitation, is I feel too wide-spread for me to think it would be different.
Conversely, it also ingrains the lesson that it is ok to abuse anyone weaker than you A) if you know you can get away with it (because someone stronger is not always around/aware/inclined to intervene), or B) because that is just normal / the way the world is.
I don't see how that follows. In an environment in which physical correction has no reason, and is doled out unfairly (as with alcoholic parents), then sure, someone would ingrain the idea that the world is callous and unfair and they should get theirs at the expense of others if they can. If they instead only experience physical correction due to specific reasons that are deemed far outside the bounds of acceptable (such as inflicting violence on others), that's a whole different lesson.
No, I think it was meant literally. Like the IT Crowd skit where Jen refers to the Internet Explorer desktop shortcut as "the button for the internet".
A fraudulent claimant like this is often some anonymous operation that can pop up under a different name the next day. Good luck finding them (and hope they are even located in a place where suing for copyright would even make sense).
Youtube is protected by their terms and the DCMA, as far as I know.
I'm interested in the opposite direction too. If the iPad could do real phone calls and sms, I would ditch mobile phones. In the process I'd hope to reduce some screen time. I could live with Pod+Pad+Watch, but I doubt they'd ever make that happen :(
I doubt they'd just add a UUID in a file header somewhere. If they uniquely modify the actual audio samples in a way that is inaudible during casual listening, that would be much harder to "diff", I think.
Can you guys catch up on the absolute basics of the last twenty years of audio watermarking research before continuing this conversation please dear god
Are you saying that two audio files each watermarked for a specific different user will not show a difference? Because then I am genuinely interested in how they achieved that feat
Could you elaborate on which features are premium only? Or maybe also put them in the AppStore description? I tend to be averse to even downloading apps with IAP, without knowing what they are going to be.

But yeah, I might be too cynical here.
