"According to one estimate, some Teens may see as many as
1,260 ads per day.200 Children and Teens may be lured through these ads into making purchases or
handing over personal information and other data via dark patterns"
There is a long trail of blood behind google and facebook, amazon... Etc...
Even with ad blockers, we still see tons of ads. Corporate news like CNN constantly has front page stories that are just paid promotion for some product or service wrapped in a thin veil of psuedo journalism. Product placement is everywhere too. Tons of reddit front page content is bot-upvoted content that is actually just a marketing campaign disguised as some TIL or meme or sappy story.
I know little about this case but remember the wild show Kim put on before his arrest. The way I saw it then was his colleagues pleaded guilty and where never extradited so my assumption was new Zealand would bend to his favour but I guess interpretation of rule of law is above precedence... I wish I could say I know what Im talking about.
The 2nd, 3rd Generations ahead are entitled to that wealth they did not work for it, they simply accepted it as a gift from there relative or mother and father. They are not matching each dollar pound for pound with sweat over there foreheads. Wealth squandered, I just didn't think that 70-90% lose there wealth, it seems like an immense number to me but when you consider how careless and uninformed people get, it is not entirely surprise.
UBI in effect would clean the most degenerate and ignored few in society while at the same time liberating the masses from aimless drudgery. It will inject cash into the consumer market and lower risk to seeking credit. I see it as the ultimate form of capitalism when everyone has a means to acquire goods and services at a mutually agreed upon standard. I also see it as the only option to avert a cataclysmic economic event when we all get layed off and replaced by robots. Read this article from McMaster about UBI in action in the Province of Ontario, it is short and clears up many pre conceived notions against such a program.
A lot of media in Canada is subsidized, the government needs to justify its expenses somehow. It has nothing to do with Canadian exceptionalism or something like that.
"I wanted to fund students at Einstein so that they would receive free tuition," Dr Gottesman said she immediately realised. "There was enough money to do that in perpetuity."
I have never heard of a school getting this lucky from there alumni/faculty and even hearing there students getting something out of it so it touched my heart I have always had a toxic opinion about my teachers. Perhaps this could turn into an example for the rest of Americas medical schools in the coming decades.
“inconsistent with Microsoft’s suggestion to this Court that the two companies will operate independently post-merger.”
I believe there was supposed to be a 10 year pause to any structural changes to Activision in addition to keeping the Call of Duty IP non-exclusive, firing these workers is a gain for Microsoft as it recoups cash from the merger and if anything this makes Activision dependent on its new parent Microsoft so the FTC has a good point here but I doubt they will get anything.
considering how silly some of these court documents where and the tacky controversial nonsense arguments from the executives at Microsoft and Sony... and the 'gamers lawsuit' you would be tricked into believing if whether this where just another marketing trick from Microsoft.
